What inspired you to get into a technology career?
I loved math as a child. I even used to pretend to work at a bank, so a career in Finance was a natural progression of that passion. When I was pursuing my Economics degree in Brazil, IBM was situated nearby. I recall passing by the building on my way home and envisioning working at Big Blue. I finally dropped off my resume, and was called in to interview for their internship program. The rest is history.
What personal or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
My biggest accomplishments are my children who motivate me every day to be a better person. And while no one is perfect, I focus on trying to be the best mother that I can, and being a great role model for them.
I am also very proud of my career, which has given me a broad range of experiences in different markets and areas of the business. Each experience has complemented the others in ways that have made me the leader I am today.
What made you make the move to Kyndryl and what are you most looking forward to as the company becomes independent?
This is an exciting time, and I am looking forward to being part of something that is such a defining career moment. We’re all part of this incredible “start up” with a very large portfolio and tremendous presence in the industry and I’m excited to be contributing to its creation and winnings. We have amazing talent at Kyndryl. And by staying focused and setting our priorities right, we’ll be able to make the most of this moment.
What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?
Hispanic heritage month is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the culture and many contributions of all Americans whose roots come from the Hispanic/Latino countries. Being from Brazil, a country built on so many different races and cultures, I can appreciate the benefits of a diverse environment. I am the first of my family to come to America, and despite a profound love for my country of birth, I came here looking for the opportunity to pursue the American dream. It was not an easy journey, but it has led to an incredible life, and I would not trade it for anything. I love America as much as I love Brazil, and I hope to continue to bring to this country a diverse perspective – enriching those around me through sharing my experiences and educating them on the beautiful culture of my country.
